BTech Lateral Entry Eligibility Criteria
Students who are looking to apply for BTech lateral entryadmissions should have completed a three-year full-time (regular) diploma in engineering successfully.
For BTech lateral entry admissions, students must have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in a 3-year diploma (Engineering – any stream) after the Class 10 board exam.
Students who have pursued a 3-year diploma after class 10+2 board exams are also eligible for admission to the BTech lateral course through lateral entry. It is up to students whether they want to join diploma in engineering after class 10 or class 12.

Admission Process
BTech lateral entry admissions offered by engineeringinstitutes and universities is also based on the entrance exam score. Different institutes consider different entrance examinations. Most of the regional government and private colleges take B.tech admission on the basis of state entrance exams. Some deemed universities and autonomous institutes may conduct their own entrance exam for lateral entry admissions.

As discussed above, the entrance exams and career paths are different but the streams of BTech lateral entry and regular BTech are the same. Nevertheless, lateral entry is considered easier as students have already completed an engineering diploma prior to that.
